Una storia di due sorelle come nessun’altra, Bucking Fastard narra una vicenda che l’acclamato Werner Herzog ha avuto in mente per anni. Jean e Joan Holbrooke sono così unite da parlare all’unisono, amare lo stesso uomo e condividere gli stessi sogni. Persino i loro lapsus sono identici e pronunciati all’unisono. Non possiamo vedere il mondo attraverso i loro occhi, ma possiamo osservare il modo in cui il mondo reagisce a loro: attraverso i tribunali e la stampa, attraverso coloro che cercano di aiutarle e coloro che vogliono sfruttarle, attraverso lo sguardo di animali domestici e selvatici, e persino attraverso l’eco delle loro stesse vite nelle profondità della terra.
A tale of two sisters like no other, Bucking Fastard is a story that acclaimed filmmaker Werner Herzog has toyed with for years. Jean and Joan Holbrooke are so close to each other that they speak in unison, love the same man, and have the same dreams. They even make the same slip of tongue in unison. We cannot see the world as they see it, but we do see how the world reacts to them – through the courts and the press, through those that want to help and those who want to use them, through the eyes of beasts both tame and wild, and even through their own echoes in the core of the earth.

È cresciuto in un remoto villaggio di montagna in Baviera e da bambino non ha mai visto film, televisione o telefono.
Ha iniziato a viaggiare a piedi a 14 anni. Ha fatto la sua prima telefonata a 17 anni. Durante gli anni del liceo lavorava di notte come saldatore in un’acciaieria per potersi permettere i suoi primi film, che ha realizzato a 19 anni di età. Da allora ha prodotto, scritto e diretto circa 80 film, pubblicato una dozzina di libri di prosa e messo in scena altrettante opere liriche. È stato anche attore protagonista in diversi film di altri registi.
Werner Herzog
He grew up in a remote mountain village in Bavaria, and never saw any films, television, or telephones as a child.
He started travelling on foot from age 14. He made his first phone call at 17. During high school he worked the night shift as a welder in a steel factory to produce his first films and made his first film at the age of 19. Since then he has produced, written, and directed some 80 films, published a dozen books of prose, and staged as many operas. He has been a leading actor in various films by other directors.
