Per molti anni, il climatologo Jason Box ha studiato lo scioglimento dei ghiacci in Groenlandia grazie alle sue centraline. Convinto che l’evidenza delle sue ricerche non sia più sufficiente a sensibilizzare l’opinione pubblica sul riscaldamento globale, prende l’iniziativa di piantare alberi lungo la calotta glaciale insieme a groenlandesi e volontari. Laddove non era mai cresciuto un albero, per effetto del riscaldamento globale ora è possibile, ma ben presto si renderà conto che il suo impegno non è apprezzato da tutti.
L’avvincente storia di uno scienziato che diventa attivista per il clima, tesa tra questioni ambientali e socio politiche, ambientata dove i sogni incontrano la realtà e il passato si specchia nel futuro.
For many years, climate scientist Jason Box has traveled to Greenland to verify the results of his measuring stations on the melting ice sheet. Now he believes that all the collected facts aren‘t enough to raise people‘s awareness of global warming. He decides to take action himself. He is setting out to plant trees along the ice sheet with Greenlanders and volunteers. Since no tree has ever grown, global warming now makes it possible. But he soon realizes that his commitment is not universally welcomed.
A compelling story of a climate expert who becomes a climate activist, set in the tension between environmental and socio-political issues, in a place where dreams meet reality and the past reflects the future.

Nato e cresciuto nella Foresta Nera, in Germania, si è sentito fin da subito attratto dal mondo. Dopo un periodo trascorso viaggiando, la sua curiosità lo ha spinto a studiare fotografia e regia cinematografica (a Monaco, Edimburgo, L’Avana e Colonia). Lavora e collabora con artisti, ballerini e ONG in diversi ambiti, sia in Germania che all’estero. Jason’s Box è il suo primo lungometraggio. Vive e lavora a Colonia.
Michael Strassburger
Born and raised in the Black Forest/Germany, he quickly found himself drawn to the world. After some time on the road, his curiosity led him to study photography and film directing (in Munich, Edinburgh, Havana, and Cologne). He shoots and works in various fields for artists, dancers, and NGOs both in Germany and abroad. His documentary Jason‘s Box is his first feature length film. Michael Strassburger lives and works in Cologne.
