Film decisamente strano, Seksmisja solleva la domanda su quale funzione abbiano i film di fantascienza nell’Est Europa e in particolare in Polonia. Da una parte sembra una commedia corrosiva su una Polonia del futuro basata sull’inganno, con una noncurante popolazione di zombie, e sotto questo aspetto è probabilmente di grande attualità. Sotto un altro punto di vista, invece, si potrebbe vedere il film come una commedia femminista, nella quale il mondo del film – un futuro in cui gli uomini sono stati banditi e la storia viene riscritta in modo tale che Einstein risulta esser stato una donna, Adamo tenta Eva nel giardino dell’Eden e così via, e la posizione degli eroi maschili al momento del loro risveglio da un esperimento d’ibernazione in un mondo di sole donne – è una parodia del presente. Infine si può vedere il film come una commedia popolare con Lukaszewicz e Sthur nel ruolo dei maschi che alla fine ristabiliscono l’ordine naturale delle cose (quello in cui gli uomini sono superiori). Certamente il film offre chiavi di lettura per tutte queste tre interpretazioni.

A decidedly odd film, Seksmisja raises the question of what function Science Fiction films have in Eastern Europe and Poland in particular. On the one hand it seems to be a corrosive comedy about a future Poland based on deceit with the populace as mindless zombies, as such is probably highly topical. Another view might see the film as a feminist comedy in which the film’s world, a future in which men have been banished and history rewritten so that Einstein was a woman, Adam tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden and so forth, and the male heroes’ position when they wake up from a hibernation experiment to this women only world, is intended as a parody of the present. And lastly it can be seen as a Carry On type farce with Lukaszewicz and Stuhr as the males who finally ogle and bed their way back to the natural order (in which males are superior). Certainly the film offers evidence for all three interpretations.
