La famiglia Bartonicek sta facendo grandi pulizie quando, inavvertitamente, l’urna contenente le ceneri del nonno cade fuori da una finestra. Alice, che è stata causa dell’incidente, corre in strada per raccogliere i cocci ma non trova le ceneri. Sorpresa, insiste per avere delle spiegazioni dai genitori e dalla nonna, i quali, alla fine, le dicono la verità: il 2 settembre 1946 il prof. Rudolf Jenik, suo nonno, non era morto ma era semplicemente scomparso nella città di Telc. Alice decide di svelare questo singolare mistero e con l’aiuto dell’amico Pets si reca dal vecchio calzolaio Jebady. Quest’ultimo le consegna un grosso plico, l’opera completa del prof. Jenik, che aveva dedicato tutta la vita alla costruzione di un acceleratore temporale. Petr, studente di fisica, si rende conto che con l’uso di questo acceleratore si può andare a ritroso nel tempo, in qualsiasi periodo, in base alla lunghezza di marcia dello strumento. Petr allora decide di costruire l’acceleratore secondo le tecniche più moderne per intraprendere il loro viaggio verso il 2 settembre 1946.

The Batonicek family are dedicating themselves to a big clean-up when, inadvertently, the urn containing the grandfather’s ashes falls out of the window, into the street. Alice, who caused the accident, runs to the street to pick up the pot, but she can’t find the ashes. Surprised, she demands explanations from her parents and grandmother, who, in the end, tell her the truth. On the 12th September 1946, Rudolf Jenik, her grandfather, didn’t die, but simply disappeared in the city of Telc. Alice decides to uncover the mystery and with the help of her friend Pets, she goes to the old shoemaker Jebady. He gives her a huge package, the complete work of Professor Jenik who dedicated his whole life to the construction of a temporal accelerator. Petr, a physics student, realises that the use of this accelerator can take you back in time, to any period within the existence of the instrument. Petr decides to build the accelerator using more modern techniques to launch their journey to the 12th September 1946.
