The USSR, 1957 – a time of hope and genuine belief that the future will undoubtedly be bright. In space, the Soviet satellite sends clear signals to the world. On the ground, in a little port city, the bright beaming eyes of Konyok and Lara – a simple-hearted restaurant cook and his waitress girlfriend – follow the movement of the satellite with delight. The course of their simple romance is disrupted by the appearance of a mysterious stranger who knows with utter certainty that you can not run away from this country. You can only fly. Or swim.
