Dug, Mel e Fatt sono dei ragazzini dodicenni che passano le giornate nel loro sobborgo deserto. Il fratello maggiore di Dug, Wyatt, porta il trio in campeggio in un canyon con la sua nuova, fantastica fidanzata Mary. La ragazza non passa di certo inosservata a Mel e Fatt, appena entrati nella pubertà. Dug è invece ancora un bambinone interessato a marshmallow abbrustoliti e storie di fantasmi. A una stazione di servizio, il benzinaio racconta al gruppo del “Night Child”, una creatura antica che si nutre di turisti. Film d’avventura, storia di formazione, leggenda metropolitana e film dell’orrore, il tutto raccontato in una commedia di animazione.

Dug, Mel, and Fatt are 12-year-old boys navigating life in their desert suburb. Dug’s older brother Wyatt takes the trio on a camping trip to a canyon with his new, awesome girlfriend Mary. She doesn’t go unnoticed by Mel and Fatt, who have just descended into puberty.  Late bloomer Dug just dreams of s’mores and ghost stories. On a pit stop, the gas station attendant shares tales of ‘The Night Child’, an ancient creature that feeds on tourists. Equal parts adventure movie, coming of age story, urban legend and horror film all wrapped up in a comedic animated package.
