Nell’anno 1997, la famiglia Robinson lascia la Terra sull’astronave Jupiter 2 per colonizzare Alpha Centauri, ma il dottor Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris), al soldo di un governo straniero, sabota il robot di controllo ambientale perché distrugga i sistemi di controllo della nave a poche ore dal decollo. Il dottor Smith, però, resta intrappolato sulla nave, che incontra una tempesta di meteoriti e finisce anni luce fuori rotta. Quando il robot si attiva, danneggia ulteriormente la nave prima di essere fermato; allora, il professor John Robinson (Guy Williams) esce dalla nave per ripararne i sensori di sistema. Quando i cavi di aggancio si staccano, la moglie Maureen deve uscire nello spazio ad aiutarlo.

In the year 1997, the Robinson family leaves Earth in the Jupiter 2 space ship to colonize Alpha Centauri, but Dr. Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris), working as a saboteur for a foreign government, rigs the environmental control robot to destroy the ship’s control systems within hours after take off. Events lead to Smith being trapped aboard the doomed ship, which encounters a meteor storm and veers light years off course. Soon, the robot becomes active and does further damage before it can be stopped. Later, Professor John Robinson (Guy Williams) tries to fix the ship’s sensor systems but must go outside the craft to perform the repairs. He becomes untethered and his wife Maureen goes out to help him.
