Gabriele Mainetti will be Jury President for the Asteroide Award, the international prize that each year awards the best film by new directors in the genres of science fiction, horror, and fantasy. During the 25th edition of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, the acclaimed director of Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot, Freaks Out, and La città proibita will also be the protagonist of two events open to the public.
At 6:15 p.m. on Friday, October 31, Gabriele Mainetti will lead a panel as part of IVIPRO DAYS, an annual event dedicated to the video game industry and its links with the territory and its cultural heritage, during which he will talk about his relationship with video games. On the evening of Friday, October 31, the director will present two films that have made history in fantastic genres, personally chosen by him, at Teatro Miela in Trieste.
The international jury for the Asteroide Award also includes Julia Wrigley, a content curator with over 30 years of experience in the film industry who has contributed significantly to the creation of the Film4 Channel brand, and Rocio Moreno, programmer for Fancine, the Fantastic Film Festival of Málaga. The jury for the Méliès d’Argent Award, a competition organized in collaboration with the Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF) and dedicated to European fantastic feature films, will be made up of British distributor Martin Myers, film critic and writer Ann Billson, and Mark Moore, DJ and front man of the band S’Express.
