La serie radiofonica di Douglas Adams trasmessa nel 1978, che unisce humour, spesso di surrealismo estremo, e fantascienza divenne subito un cult. Ne nacquero due romanzi e una seconda serie di trasmissioni radiofoniche, ma l’idea di un adattamento televisivo, e quindi del tentativo di visualizzare le creazioni cosmico-comiche di Adams, riempì i fans di aspettative. Il risultato si trasformò a sua volta in un cult della televisione. La serie racconta le avventure di Ford Prefect, scrittore di guide per autostoppisti della galassia, e del suo amico terrestre Arthur Dent, costretti a peregrinare per lo spazio in seguito alla distruzione della Terra, necessaria per la costruzione di una tangenziale spaziale.

The radio series by Douglas Adams, broadcast in 1978, uniting humour with extreme surrealism and science fiction, immediately become a cult hit. Two more books and a second series of radio shows were born from this success, but the idea of a television adaptation and therefore the attempt to visualise Adams’ cosmi-comic creations, filled fans with anticipation. The result turned into a television cult. The series tells the story of the adventures of Ford Prefect, a writer for the Hitchhiker’s guide to the Galaxy and his Earth friend Arthur Dent, forced to wander the depths of space following the destruction of Earth, which was necessary for the construction of a new interplanetary highway.
