The section dedicated to science documentary, investigating and promoting the links between science and audiovisual industry. Focus of this year’s program, the comparison between traditional documentary film-making and digital technologies for scientific dissemination.

Scientific dissemination and innovative systems: the new opportunities for science communication
A meeting with VIS – Virtual Immersion in Science, spin-off of the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa specialising in the production of multimedia for scientific dissemination based on innovative digital systems. An overview of the present and future of scientific communication, and a look at the opportunities offered by new digital technologies.

Meeting with Christian Frei
Swiss filmmaker Christian Frei – an Oscar nominee for THE WAR PHOTOGRAPHER (2001) – is considered one of the most innovative contemporary documentary directors. During this meeting, the director will discuss his latest documentaries – BLAME (2025) and GENESIS 2.0 (2018), both selected for the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival – and the unique inquiry into science, ethics, politics, communication, and disinformation that lies at the heart of his latest works.
