Independent genre cinema in the United Kingdom: meeting with Andy Starke
Andy Starke is one of the most prominent and active independent film producers in the UK: a longtime producing partner of film director Ben Wheatley, he co-founded Rook Films and Mondo Macabro and produced or co-produced over 40 films, mostly genre, including works by Peter Strickland, Brandon Cronenberg, Lucile Hadzihalilovic. A unique chance for an in-depth look at contemporary UK independent genre cinema, its production features, the opportunities it offers, and its attitude towards international co-production.

Genre cinema, TV programming and film acquisition
This panel will compare the editorial policy of two channels traditionally bent on genre films, Film4 Channel and Rai4. How is content selection determined? How does film acquisition for programming work? A meeting with three executives from both channels to provide further insight into this.

The new Italian way to genre: meeting with Gabriele Mainetti
The release of “They Call Me Jeeg” in 2015 seemed to mark a small rebirth of Italian genre cinema after a decades-long decline – a path that Gabriele Mainetti continued on in his own personal way, experimenting with ever-different genres. Ten years after the release of “Jeeg”, an informal meeting with the Italian director to talk about his career so far, how genre cinema has changed in Italy in the last years, and what may be next.
