La terra tersa by Ilaria Matteoni (effequ), La luce inversa by Mota (Wojtek), and Uomini pallidi by Giovanni Peparello (Zona 42) are the three finalist works of the contest. In one month in Trieste, the winner chosen by the Scientific Jury will be announced on the final day of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival.

Taking place from November 3 to 8, the Trieste festival unveils the first titles in an unmissable selection showcasing the best in international fantastic cinema. Opening the 26th edition will be the eco-conscious science fiction film “The Squirrel”, a dystopian comedy set in a future without nature, while Yeon Sang-ho, director of the cult hit “Train to Busan”, returns with the outbreak horror film “Colony”.

On the occasion of its new edition, scheduled from November 3 to 8, 2026, the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival launches the Sci-Fi Academy, an educational and practical opportunity aimed at university students passionate about cinema and science fiction who wish to test themselves in the field.

One hundred years after his birth, Italy’s leading science fiction festival pays tribute to Roger Corman, a master of genre cinema, visionary producer and extraordinary talent scout, with a special retrospective running from October to November.

From 28 October to 2 November, under the starry dome of the Politeama Rossetti, great science fiction cinema returns: the 25th edition of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, organised by La Cappella Underground, brings the best fantastic productions to Trieste, with over 50 world, international and national film premieres and three competitions attended by directors, actors and authors from all over the world.
