The final screening on Thursday, October 30, again at <\/span><b>Miela <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">will be<\/span><b> the Italian premiere<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> at <\/span><b>12:30 a.m. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of<\/span> <b><i>\u201cTouch Me\u201d <\/i><\/b><b>by Addison Heimann (USA, 2025), <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a gory sci-fi comedy in which two dysfunctional slackers find themselves caught in a love triangle with a narcissistic alien\u2014a tale of addiction, violence, intoxication, and tentacles.<\/span>\n\n<b>Thursday, October 30<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">at <\/span><b>5:00 p.m. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the second day of Mondofuturo events kicks off with the talk <\/span><b><i>\u201c The Future of the City \u2013 How to Design Urban Spaces to Address the Climate Crisis\u201d<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> curated by landscape architect Eleonora Ceschin, who will transport us <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> into the cities of the future: The climate crisis is posing new challenges for livability, inclusion, and social justice in urban spaces, and\u2014amid rising sea levels and heat islands\u2014we\u2019ll explore vertical cities, floating cities, and cities built under geodesic domes. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At <\/span><b>6:00 p.m.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, this will be followed by the talk <\/span><b><i>\u201cTrue Italians. At <\/span><b>12:00 p.m.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Isabella Hermann will discuss a new form of science fiction storytelling: \u201c<\/span><b><i>Anti-dystopias\u201d<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. In a present dominated by climate catastrophes and malevolent artificial intelligence, anti-dystopias present us with imperfect but desirable futures that may prove to be an excellent remedy for contemporary pessimism. At <\/span><b>4:00 p.m. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Beatrice Petrella, author of the essay <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Still Online<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, will explore the changes in our relationship with death, amid digital traces and virtual avatars: \u201c<\/span><b><i>Thanatos: Mourning in the Digital Age\u201d<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. To conclude the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thing to Come <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">program at <\/span><b>5:45 p.m.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> at the <\/span><b>Teatro Miela<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, there will be a screening of Peter Watkins\u2019 masterpiece, \u201c<\/span><b><i>The War Game<\/i><\/b><b>\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a BBC docudrama released in 1965, followed by a discussion between Pierluigi Masai and Wenzel Mehnert.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><\/span><b>BookInvaders<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is back\u2014the series of science fiction-themed events organized by the festival in collaboration with the local writers\u2019 collective FantaTrieste, featuring national and international guests. The four-day program, <\/span><b>running from Thursday, October 30, to Sunday, November 2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, is packed with conferences on topics related to fantasy literature and presentations of books and comics in the genre. Also kicking off is <\/span><b>IVIPRO DAYS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the international event dedicated to <\/span><b>video games<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as a medium for showcasing the local area and cultural heritage, which is making its fourth appearance at the science fiction festival <\/span><b>from Thursday, October 30, through Saturday, November 1<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">at the <\/span><b>Sci-Fi Dome <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in Piazza della Borsa with numerous events and guests from around the world.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Also <\/span><b>on Thursday, October 30<\/b><b> starting at 6:00 p.m.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the program includes a walking tour with film journalist Elisa Grando to discover how Trieste was transformed into postwar New York in the film<\/span><b> \u201c<\/b><b><i>Napoli \u2013 New York\u201d<\/i><\/b><b> by Gabriele Salvatores<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Through real images and locations, we\u2019ll explore the film\u2019s shooting locations and the magic of cinema that reinvents the city.
