Trieste Science+Fiction presents the official image of the 2015 poster, the last instalment in a trilogy from artist Mario Alberti.<\/span><\/h4>\n

TRIESTE – The 15th edition of the international science fiction festival \u201cTrieste Science+Fiction\u201d, organised and supported by La Cappella Underground, will take place between the 3rd and the 8th November 2015. And in anticipation of the first edition of the programme, the Festival of Science Fiction presents a preview of the official poster of the upcoming event: once again an original design from the triestino<\/em> illustrator and cartoonist, Mario Alberti, who has created an exclusive trilogy of works, conceived specifically for the festival in Trieste.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to Alberti: \u201cThe first image, created two years ago, was a typical launch poster, in the vintage style of the 50s and 60s, in which we come across classic sci-fi: spaceships and robots, and cities in the future. Last year we focused on the psychedelic style of the 70s and 80s, and a canon of more hardcore science fiction: clones, mind control, surgery. For the 2015 poster, we conclude the story with the victorious struggle of the heroine, who was initially the victim, and the defeat of the egg of power. In the detail are references to H.R. Giger, creator of Alien, and a fitting tribute to Star Wars, in the year in which the seventh chapter of the saga, directed by J.J. Abrams, appears on screens, in the form of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mario Alberto is known to the wider public through much of his work: He is the illustrator of many comic books published by Bonelli, such as those about Nathan Never, or Legs Weaver; he is responsible for the illustration, colouring and front cover of the second edition of Tex romanzi a fumetti, written by Mauro Boselli and entitled \u201cFrontera!\u201d, which comes out in September. Alongside Luca Enoch, he is the author of the series Morgana, published by the French house, Les Humano\u00efdes Associ\u00e9s, and he has collaborated with both DC Comics and Marvel, creating panels for the special editions, X-Men & Spiderman, and Spiderman & The Fantastic Four. He is also one of the creators of Les Chroniques de L\u00e9gion for the French publishers Gl\u00e9nat, and is currently working on the Delcourt mini-series, Cutting Edge, written by Francesco Dmitri.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trieste Science+Fiction is a festival dedicated to the exploration of fantastic worlds, experimental languages, spectacle and new technologies in the production of cinema, television and the visual arts. The event is organised by the centre of research and experimentation on cinematic and audiovisual techniques, La Cappella Underground, with the collaboration and support of MiBACTS \u2013 Direzione Generale Cinema, the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the Province of Trieste, the University of Trieste, the Camera di Commerci di Trieste, the CRTrieste Foundation and the Kathleen Foreman Casali Foundation. The primary location of this year’s Trieste Science+Fiction will once again be the Sala Tripcovich, thanks to the collaboration with the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi Foundation. The adjacent Casa del Cinema, home of the principal film associations in the city, will be the headquarters of the festival, and in collaboration with Teatro Miela will host periphery events. Other initiatives and special events will take place at the Cinema Ariston<\/span><\/p>\n

As already announced, during the festival Trieste will become the European Capital of Fantastic Cinema, with the annual convention of the European Federation of Fantastic Film Festivals and the 19th Golden M\u00e9li\u00e8s Ceremony scheduled for the 6th November, in which the M\u00e9li\u00e8s d’Or of the EFFFF, the network to which the event in Trieste has belonged since 2005, will be presented. The winning director will be invited to the festival to receive the statuette, an original creation inspired by the early classic of fantastic cinema Le Voyage dans la Lune. It is an exception engagement with which to best celebrate the prestigious goals of the 15th edition of Trieste Science+Fiction.<\/span><\/p>\n

The European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation is an organised network the comprises 21 festivals across 15 countries, with an total audience of over 450,000, with the mission of promoting the production of European fantastic films throughout Europe and the rest of the world, by enhancing their visibility and standing both amongst the public and within the industry, and encouraging their circulation. The primary means through which the Federation acts is the competition for the M\u00e9li\u00e8s prizes, given to the best European productions within the genre. The M\u00e9li\u00e8s d’Or and the M\u00e9li\u00e8s d’Argent are given to the best European fantastic feature and short films, increasing the visibility of, and generating attention around, the works and the filmmakers, and recognising the values of quality and creativity. The winning films are screened at every festival within the Federation.<\/span><\/p>\n

As before, cinema will be at the centre of the festivals programme, with national and international previews of the best science fiction, fantasy and horror productions. The official selection will present two international prizes: independent filmmakers from across the world will contest the Premio Asteroide, for the best science fiction feature. The competition for the best European fantastic feature and short will end in the presentation of the M\u00e9li\u00e8s d’Argent, whereas the Spazio Italia section will host the best native productions. Finally are the unmissable special events dedicated to science and literature, the Incontri di Futurologia, in collaboration with the large science institutes in the surrounding area, and the awarding of the Silver Urania, organised together with the literary journal of the same name, to a master of the fantastic.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
