{"id":36897,"date":"2015-09-16T12:10:20","date_gmt":"2015-09-16T10:10:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sciencefictionfestival.org\/i-primi-titoli-per-la-selezione-ufficiale-della-15a-edizione\/"},"modified":"2021-09-22T11:58:46","modified_gmt":"2021-09-22T09:58:46","slug":"i-primi-titoli-per-la-selezione-ufficiale-della-15a-edizione","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sciencefictionfestival.org\/en\/i-primi-titoli-per-la-selezione-ufficiale-della-15a-edizione\/","title":{"rendered":"FIRST TITLES FOR THE OFFICIAL SELECTION"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #d7b03c; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">Trieste Science+Fiction festival of science fiction presents its new poster and announces the first titles of the official selection of the 15th edition.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">VENICE \u2013 <span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\">Trieste Science+Fiction<\/span> announces the <span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\">first titles<\/span> of the programme of the <span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\">15th edition of the international<\/span> science fiction festival, taking place between the 3rd and the 8th November, and presents the <span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\">new poster from Mario Alberti<\/span>.<!--more-->The Festival of Science Fiction presents the<span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\"> official poster<\/span> of the 15th edition: an original design from the triestino illustrator and cartoonist, Mario Alberti, who has created an exclusive trilogy of works, conceived specifically for the festival in Trieste.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\">According to Alberti<\/span>: \u201cThe first image, created two years ago, was a typical launch poster, in the vintage style of the 50s and 60s, in which we come across classic sci-fi: spaceships and robots, and cities in the future. Last year we focused on the psychedelic style of the 70s and 80s, and a canon of more hardcore science fiction: clones, mind control, surgery. For the 2015 poster, we conclude the story with the victorious struggle of the heroine, who was initially the victim, and the defeat of the egg of power. In the detail are references to H.R. Giger, creator of Alien, and a fitting tribute to Star Wars, in the year in which the seventh chapter of the saga, directed by J.J. Abrams, appears on screens, in the form of Obi-Wan Kenobi&#8217;s lightsaber.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\">Mario Alberto<\/span> is known to the wider public through much of his work: He is the illustrator of many comic books published by Bonelli, such as those about Nathan Never, or Legs Weaver; he is responsible for the illustration, colouring and front cover of the second edition of Tex romanzi a fumetti, written by Mauro Boselli and entitled \u201cFrontera!\u201d, which comes out in September. Alongside Luca Enoch, he is the author of the series Morgana, published by the French house, Les Humano\u00efdes Associ\u00e9s, and he has collaborated with both DC Comics and Marvel, creating panels for the special editions, X-Men &amp; Spiderman, and Spiderman &amp; The Fantastic Four. He is also one of the creators of Les Chroniques de L\u00e9gion for the French publishers Gl\u00e9nat, and is currently working on the Delcourt mini-series, Cutting Edge, written by Francesco Dmitri.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">With two months until the start of Trieste Science+Fiction, the organisers, present at the Venice International Film Festival, have announced the first films in the official selection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">In the international competition, the following films will have their Italian premi\u00e8res:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\">Turbo Kid<\/span>, a passionate and post-apocalyptic homage to the 1980s, from the Canadian directors Anouk Whissell, Fran\u00e7ois Simard and Yoann-Karl Whissell, selected at Sundance Film Festival; <span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\">Howl<\/span>, by Paul Hyett, a creature-movie from the multi-award winning British makeup artist known for The Descent, Doomsday and Unknown;<span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\"> Der Polder,<\/span> a Swiss-German film by Julian M. Gr\u00fcnthal and Samuel Schwartz, which explores the boundaries between reality and video games; and <span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\">Crumbs<\/span>, the first science fiction film shot and produced in Ethiopia, directed by Miguel Llans\u00f3, at once epic, surrealist, pop culture and a critique of globalisation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">And previews of these films (which have already secured distribution in Italy) will also be shown:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\">The Brand New Testament<\/span> from the Belgian cin\u00e9aste Jaco van Dormael, known for The Eighth Day and Mr. Nobody. The film was presented at Directors&#8217; fortnight in Cannes and has already grossed highly in France (distributed by I Wonder Pictures and Unipol Biografilm Collection, it comes out on the 26th November). Also screening will be <span style=\"color: #d7b03c;\">Stung<\/span> (distributed by Movies Inspired), the first film from Benni Diez, who previously worked on the special effects in Melancholia, by Lars von Trier. In the debut film, a garden party is transformed into a fantasy horror set, as wasps turn into giant predators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">As already announced, during the festival Trieste will become the European Capital of Fantastic Cinema, with the annual convention of the European Federation of Fantastic Film Festivals and the 19th Golden M\u00e9li\u00e8s Ceremony scheduled for the 6th November, in which the M\u00e9li\u00e8s d&#8217;Or of the EFFFF, the network to which the event in Trieste has belonged since 2005, will be presented. The winning director will be invited to the festival to receive the statuette, an original creation inspired by the early classic of fantastic cinema Le Voyage dans la Lune. It is an exception engagement with which to best celebrate the prestigious goals of the 15th edition of Trieste Science+Fiction. The European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation is an organised network the comprises 21 festivals across 15 countries, with an total audience of over 450,000, with the mission of promoting the production of European fantastic films.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">The official selection of Trieste Science+Fiction will, as usual, present two international awards: the Premio Asteroide, for the best science fiction features from directors emerging at an international level, and the M\u00e9li\u00e8s d&#8217;Argent, the competition of the EFFFF for the best European fantastic feature and short. The Spazio Italia section will host the best native productions, and finally are the unmissable special events dedicated to science and literature, the Incontri di Futurologia, coordinated in conjunction with the large science institutes in the surrounding area, and the awarding of the Silver Urania, organised together with the literary journal of the same name, to a master of the fantastic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">Trieste Science+Fiction is organised by the centre of research and experimentation on cinematic and audiovisual techniques, La Cappella Underground, with the collaboration and support of MiBACTS \u2013 Direzione Generale Cinema, the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the Province of Trieste, the District of Trieste, the University of Trieste, the Camera di Commerci di Trieste, the CRTrieste Foundation and the Kathleen Foreman Casali Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12pt;\">The primary location of this year&#8217;s Trieste Science+Fiction will once again be the Sala Tripcovich, thanks to the collaboration with the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi Foundation. The adjacent Casa del Cinema, home of the principal film associations in the city, will be the headquarters of the festival, and in collaboration with Teatro Miela will host periphery events.
