The eighteen edition of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival<\/strong> \u2013 organized and promoted by the Film and audio-visual research and experimentation Centre La Cappella Underground<\/strong> \u2013 will take place from October 30th to November 4th, 2018<\/strong>.
\nThe dates have been made official at a Berlinale meeting of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation<\/strong>, Trieste Science+Fiction being the official Italian partner of the network.<\/p>\n

Submissions are now open for films wishing to be selected for the competition sections, the deadline being July 31st, 2018. Guidelines and instructions for submission to the 2018 edition are available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trieste Science+Fiction Festival comprises the following sections:
\n\u2022 Asteroide award<\/strong>, for the best international science-fiction and fantasy film;
\n\u2022 M\u00e9li\u00e8s d\u2019argent<\/strong> award for the best European fantastic genre feature film;
\n\u2022 M\u00e9li\u00e8s d\u2019argent<\/strong>, for the best European fantastic genre short film;
\n\u2022 Spazio Italia<\/strong>, a selection of Italian fantastic genre films;
\n\u2022 retrospectives, special programmes and life achievement awards;
\n\u2022 premi\u00e9res and special events.<\/p>\n

Trieste Science+Fiction Festival<\/strong> is the most important film festival in Italy exploring the worlds of science-fiction and the fantastic genre. Cinema, television, new media, literature, comics, music, performative and visual arts are the tools to explore the wonders of possibility.<\/p>\n

Trieste Science+Fiction Festival is a member of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation<\/strong>, together with the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, the Imagine Film Festival, the Neuch\u00e2tel International Fantastic Film Festival, the MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival, the Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival, the Lund International Fantastic Film Festival and Sitges – Festival Internacional de Cinema de Catalunya.
\nFounded in Trieste in the year 2000, Trieste Science+Fiction Festival has picked up the heritage of the historic Trieste International Science-iction Film Festival which took place from 1963 to 1982 and was the first genre film festival in Italy and one of the firsts in Europe.
