\nCase study – (Co)producers in Europe<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Science-fiction from Central Europe: \u201cRestore Point\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cRestore Point\u201d is the first Czech sci-fi movie in 40 years, and it\u2019s the result of a \u201clocal\u201d, entirely Central-European co-production between Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Serbia, testifying to a more and more widespread renaissance of genre cinema. It has been generating a buzz on the industry circuit ever since pre-production (it was the first Czech project ever to be pitched at the Asia Film Financing Forum, followed by the Network of Asian Fantastic Films in Bucheon, Fronti\u00e8res and Baltic Event in Tallinn), and was finally picked up for international distribution by XYZ Films. A successful film production case, presented by its director, Robert Hloz.<\/p>\n

\nCase study – (Co)producers in Europe<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cFilms should be made collectively\u201d: the \u201cUFO Sweden\u201d case<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cUFO Sweden\u201d, the opening film of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, is the last production of the Swedish film collective Crazy Pictures. Starting from a few shorts released on YouTube in 2009, the collective quickly grew up and achieved international success with the feature films \u201cThe Unthinkable\u201d (2018) and \u201cUFO Sweden\u201d \u2013 while always keeping true to its philosophy: creating movies as a group, from the initial idea to the finished product, and making local films (especially genre films) for the whole world. Producer Albin Petersson will expose how the film was produced and the peculiar way they usually work at Crazy Pictures.<\/p>\n

Distributing genre films\/1<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Is theatrical distribution of genre films still profitable? What\u2019s behind the decisions in film distribution? How to promote (and sell) your film? Is there space left for independent movies? An informal survey of the distribution of genre films together with Ludovico De Cesare from Plaion Pictures (formerly Koch Media) \u2013 one of the main players in the sector in Italy \u2013 to understand the state of health of genre cinema.<\/p>\n
