Per festeggiare il decimo anniversario della serie gli autori Bob Baker e Dave Martin hanno ideato uno speciale episodio in quattro parti che riunisce il Doctor Who interpretato da Pertwee ai suoi due predecessori, William Hartnell e Patrick Troughton. Quando Dr. Who e la sua collega Jo Grant vengono attaccati sulla Terra da una creatura sotto forma di plasma, il protagonista decide di chiedere aiuto ai Time Lords. Mentre le energie dei due compagni vengono risucchiate in un buco nero dalla creatura, i Time Lords mandano in loro aiuto sulla Terra le precedenti incarnazioni di Doctor WHo. A causa della malattia di Hartnell – questa fu infatti la sua ultima interpretazione prima di morire nel 1975 – il suo personaggio viene catturato in un vortice temporale e compare solo in fugaci apparizioni, per consentire all’attore di girare le scene da seduto. La maggior parte della storia vede dunque protagonisti Pertwee e Troughton e offre ai telespettatori l’occasione di rifamiliarizzare con il personaggio di Toughton, un Doctor Who pi\u00f9 scanzonato e malizioso.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the launch of the series, writers Bob Baker and Dave Martin concocted this four-part special that united the current Doctor Who (Pertwee) with his two earlier selves, William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton. The Doctor calls on the Time Lords for help when his companion, Jo Grant, are attacked on Earth by a plasma-like creature. However, as they are under attack themselves, with their energy being drawn off into a black hole, the Time Lords despatch to Earth the Doctor’s two earlier incarnations to aid him in his defence against the creature. Owing to Hartnell’s illness (this would be his last acting role prior to his death in 1975), his Doctor character was caught in a time eddy and is only relatively briefly seen on monitors throughout the story, thus enabling the actor to perform all of his scenes while seated. The greater part of the story was thus devoted to the remaining two Doctors, and provided a welcome opportunity for viewers to become reacquainted with Troughton’s mischievous, impish characterisation.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
