Nel mezzo di una crisi esistenziale, Paul, un famoso attore americano subisce un collasso emotivo. Incappa così nel “Soul Storage”, un laboratorio privato che offre un sollievo al fardello della sua anima. Paul decide di liberarsi del suo “insopportabile peso dell’essere” e si fa estrarre l’anima per scoprire che ha la forma e le dimensioni di un cecio. Dopo la difficoltà di vivere senza un’anima, noleggia quella di un presunto poeta russo, che lo introduce in un universo onirico.
Sophie Barthes è cresciuta nel Sud America. Nel 2000 si è trasferita a New York per iscriversi alla Columbia University Graduate School of International & Public Affairs. Cold Souls è stato ammesso al January ‘07 Sundance Screenwriters Lab e al June ’07 Sundance Directors Lab. E’ stata nominata da Filmmaker magazine una delle “25 New Faces of Independent Film” per il 2007.

In the midst of an existential crisis, Paul, a famous American actor, has an emotional collapse. He stumbles upon a “Soul Storage”, a private lab offering a relief from the burden of his soul. Paul decides to get rid of this “unbearable weightiness of being” and gets his soul extracted only to discover that it has the shape and size of a chickpea. After a difficult attempt to live a soulless life, he rents an alleged Russian poet’s soul, which guides him into a strange oneiric world.
Sophie Barthes grew up in South America. In 2000, she moved to New York to attend Columbia University Graduate School of International & Public Affairs. Cold Souls was admitted to the January ‘07 Sundance Screenwriters Lab and the June ’07 Sundance Directors Lab. She was named one of Filmmaker magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film” for 2007.
