Signale – Ein Weltraumabenteuer, directed by Gottfried Kolditz (East Germany – Poland; in the above picture), is given a honorable mention by the Board, led by Arthur C. Clarke, that declares Hauser’s Memory, directed by Boris Sagal (USA), the Festival winner.
As regards the side events, 1971 is the year of abstract expressionism, with American Robert Rauschenberg’s solo exhibit.
