From November 3 to 8, 2026, the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival returns for its twenty-sixth edition. For six days, Trieste will come alive with screenings, meetings, guests, and events dedicated to sci-fi and fantasy cinema. To make the Festival happen, we once again need new volunteers.
If you are at least 18 years old and want to discover firsthand how a film festival is organized, you can join the staff and choose the area where you would like to contribute. No prior experience is required: the tasks are varied and offer the opportunity to work directly with the public, guests, or professionals involved in the communication and organization of the Festival.
The areas of activity are:
● Communication
Assisting the social media manager in creating content for the Festival: interviews, videos, reels, stories, and other materials to cover everything happening during the event.
● Hospitality
Assisting Festival guests — directors, actors, screenwriters, and producers — during their stay in Trieste and supporting the preparation of dedicated guest materials. Volunteers will also be requested to inform themselves in advance about the works and scheduled events of the guests they will be working with.
● Production and logistics
Support for the Festival's organizational activities, from setting up venues to managing accreditations and the Fantastic Shop, as well as assisting the audience and carrying out tasks required for the smooth running of the Festival days.
Volunteers' commitments will be scheduled based on assigned shifts. Outside of shift hours, volunteers will be able to attend Festival screenings and talks, subject to seat availability, thanks to the dedicated accreditation provided to all volunteers. Everyone will also receive an official STAFF bag and t-shirt.
For certain degree programs at the University of Trieste, it will be possible to earn 1 ECTS credit (CFU) for 25 hours of
volunteering. It will also be possible to request a certificate of attendance, even if you are not eligible for credit recognition.
Accommodation and travel expense reimbursements are not provided for applicants coming from outside the city.

Selected applicants will be invited to the first volunteer coordination meeting. The venue and time of the meeting will be communicated in the weeks leading up to the Festival.
