After the hugely successful 2024 edition, Italcon, the Italian Fantastic and Science Fiction Convention, and given the incredible interest shown by the public in the literary events organized, the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival has decided to immediately apply to host the convention again: Italcon will return to Trieste for the 2027 edition of TS+FF.
But the literary news does not end there: in 2025, the festival will once again feature numerous opportunities for in-depth discussion, meetings, and presentations dedicated to fantasy fiction.
Book Invaders will be back, the series of science fiction-themed talks organized by TS+FF in collaboration with the local writers’ collective FantaTrieste, featuring national and international guests. The talks will be accompanied by conferences on topics of interest to fantasy literature and presentations of books and comics related to the genre.
As previously announced, the second edition of the Mondofuturo Literary Prize is also scheduled, which this year will once again award the best original science fiction book published in Italy in 2024. The award is the result of a collaboration between the world of science and technological innovation, Area Science Park, and the world of audiovisual production, La Cappella Underground, with the aim of exploring new ways to promote cultural growth and interest in science and literature, using science fiction as a vehicle to catalyze attention.
The Infiniti Futuri contest for unpublished science fiction stories, aimed at girls and boys enrolled in middle and high schools in Trieste, will also return for its second edition.
This year’s theme will be “Love in the Age of AI” and the jury will be composed of members of the local writers’ collective “FantaTrieste.”
