Parisian police puzzle over a number of young women who are found murdered; their faces mutilated. Behind them is the renowned surgeon Professor Genessier. Genessier daughter Christiane’s face was badly mutilated in an accident and he and his assistant Louise have faked her death. They abduct the women and slice their faces off in an attempt to perfect his heterograft technique, which will allow him to reattach their faces to Christiane.
